So how are you all getting on?
Yesterday was superb. From Sarah Jane Morris at 12.30pm right through to the Hut People at 12.30am all the acts were excellent, that's 13 hours of brilliant music, back to back. My personal highlight, but there were many, was Amira Medunjanin, not someone I'd heard of before, singing haunting songs from what was Yugoslavia with such passion it moved me to tears.
To be fair, today's line up looks a little thinner, at least until late afternoon, but we do have Peatbog Faeries and Rafiki Jazz to look forward to. That works for me, I need the rest!

Musicport was great yet again but so special to see you lot make it. Lots of highlights too. Sekou and Catrin yet again...wonderful, reggae from Misty in roots, lo’jo who I nearly missed! Hip flask tasting sessions from SC and Del, hugs, a free pint in the Blunderbuss for my performance, beer at £1.40 a pint on Sunday evening and that foaming North Sea outside the window. My discoveries were Reg Meuross who sang some mildly disturbing songs which he said the BBC wouldn’t allow him to sing on air, but I loved them; and Katie Spencer who played every trick in the guitar picking recipie book with her songs. I’d like to see her in five years when she’s mellowed. Could that be it for festivals for 2019? Oh and as an aside Ss, the James Bond chord ...0,10,9,8,7,x Rod xx Aka Hot or hootdrummer

we really enjoyed Musicport, from exploring Whitby, cheap 25 year old single malt in the little angel, house sharing with Bloohair, SC and Mrs SC, late night whisky drinking with SC, fish and chips, indoor venue while it poured outside, cheap ale, great music, lovely company, some other WOMADers saying hello (it's the sideburns and tie dye, tye dye socks, Standing Stones hugs, and SC's cake.
The only down side was Warrior emptying Del and SC's hipflasks on Friday night

I am jealous of the music. Catrin and Seckou, still peeved at missing them due to illness last year, Martin Stephenson 30 odd years ago and still gives a good performance, the Commoners Choir choir are great but would say that as they include my mate Josh and Holy Moly and the Crackers I saw back in July, another great discovery. Plus lots of other great acts, sounds like a pretty fine weekend.

Musicport Review? as has already been said, highlights for me: - Always so good to meet old friends - Wonderful chatter in the car with Bloohair as we travelled up and down the country and being re-introduced to the delights of Fatboy Slim (Jeez you forget how great he was). and so sorry you needed ear plugs ..... - Whitby Abbey - Thursday Night chewing the fat with Single Malts from Islay, Orkney, France and Ireland with Del (and Del mostly winning) till 3:30 in the morning, - Whitby - Warrior's smiles and love despite how much trouble Del and I tried to get him into trouble, - Jax, so so cool for not rising to the bait - Standing Stone so wonderful to see you again, it's been too long, - Cal, you're awesome, see you in Jan - Mrs SC for being Mrs SC - HotDrummer, man, you're a star! Always be you, and never stop putting lyrics to the Orchestra that Fell to Earth, - Paddling off Whitby Beach on Sunday Afternoon, - Napoleon 111rd - Orchestra that Fell to Earth - Anne Niepold - Shamed into seeing her, as I had left her gig a couple of weeks ago in Maidstone after her support act finished (Riccardo Tesi) - Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita - Belinda O'Hooley -Toby Marks & Andrew Heath (although I think they should have delved deeper rather than skimming the surface) - Warrior's, HotDrummer's and Del's Hipflasks -Mrs SC's never ending patience. Love you all Would have been great to meet you Olirow, buy you a beer and share some Malt mate
