yesterday we visited the National Museum of Kyiv and the National Art Gallery, both were interesting but you can tell they are run on a shoe string, we also did some shopping and Del finally tracked down some Ukraine booze

today was all about traveling, 14 hours from door to door
first by foot to the train station, train to the airport, duty free shopping (it was hard to find Ukrainian products but we eventually got what we wanted) flight to Amsterdam, where we had to wait over 5 hours for out connection (luckily we had booked into a lounge for 3 hours, we made the most of the free food, drink and peaceful surroundings), out flight to Glasgow was delayed by 20 minutes due to knock on delays due to bad weather in Holland, once in Glasgow we got a link bus back to our car then drove home.
We are both very tired and very happy
we will post some pics once we've had some sleep

All sounds a fantastic time was had by both, regardless of the 14 hour journey.
Jealous? Yes

Just read this whole thread. What a great story. I first came across DakhaBrakha at the Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures here in Ireland and have caught them at festivals a few times since (Roskilde, Glastonbury). I was at the “flag show” in 2014, which was really special. Didn’t make it to Womad last year, but I am going this year, which is why I am lurking here. How great that you made it to Kiev!

Thank you Watergirl
It was a very special trip and we are still trying to bring Dakhabrakha to Scotland so the story may not be over
