Fatoumata Diawara is confirmed to be playing Blue Dot Festival on the Thursday night which must mean, as is she will be in the country with band and gig ready, she is a certain for Womad and she is surely more than ready for a headline slot.

I have no idea who might be playing, but, for me one of the things I love about Womad is that, although we (Mildred and I) have been coming on and off since 2006, we still won’t have a clue who 95% of the acts are and that those wondrous musical discoveries and “WOMAD moments” rarely happen with the headline acts 😀😀😀. Roll on July and fingers crossed for a dry one 🤞🤞🤞

It's been quite a long time since I spent an evening just listening to music from my favourite band, the innocence mission. I did so last night, and it was wonderful.
They have a new album, see you tomorrow, that has just been released. And YouTube has some amazing new videos, including a live performance in Borders in 1996, the songs from Tending the Rose Garden that I have searched for endlessly and never found before, and some more recent performances including one for Paste magazine.
They are a religious band. I am an atheist. And yet when I see Karen perform, she is so radiant, it is truly beautiful.
I have never seen them play live, it would be amazing to do so. I think it's unlikely because they so rarely play live these days. To see them at Womad would be a magical experience.
