WOMAD at this time is still a go. Hopefully Covid-19 has settled by then and no date changes are necessary. In the meantime a link for the projected lineup. 😀 womad.co.uk/lineup

sadly some artist may not be allowed to travel or able to get insurance to travel
another factor is medical cover for any festival, WOMAD has a medical tent run by NHS volunteers, given how busy they are going to be there is a good chance they won't have the time or energy to volunteer
worrying times in so many ways

It is worrying. I'm sure you feel better that Trump is going to restrict travel to pretty much everywhere, but the UK. Hmmm, does one think maybe his golf courses in Scotland may have something to do with that? I'm hoping the hospitals get better at treating the people that are the most risk of the disease, as it will be well over a year before a reliable vaccine can be put to market.
My largest concern is my Stepfather who has cancer and the treatments to help him live longer, as well as the cancer, puts him in the vulnerable category. My mother is in the over 70 category, but is pretty healthy, so have some concerns, but figure she'll probably outlive us all.
Am hoping by summer things have settled, but with so many unknowns with this particular virus, we don't know.
I have a friend who has plans to fly to Scotland with her sister for a week of trying to see as much of North East Scotland as they can traveling by train around the end of May or early June. I am hoping somehow that it has run it's course by then.
I have no immediate travel plans this year, so am lucky there. Probably more lucky this didn't happen last year. As it is, there is so much stuff I really need to do around my home that's my focus this year. I just have to hope I can motivate myself into getting it all done.

There must be a certain critical date that Womad will need to decide by... If WOMAD was earlier in the summer I believe they would have cancelled already. There is a chance Covid-19 may give us a summer break, at least we can hope. So, my guess the very earliest mid April, but mid May might be more likely. I'm just guessing. Good, bad, right, or wrong, people can't stay home forever. That said, people will have to be more diligent about hand washing and staying home if they feel sick regardless of the time of year. Better to think you have Covid-19 and have a cold/flu, than to think you have a cold/flu and have Covid-19.

Hi All. So, it has just been confirmed that there will be no Womad this year . It was inevitable, but sad nevertheless. That completes all three of my planned excursions for this year - a full Easter weekend away, partly for my Wife's birthday (including a much anticipated visit to Radio Caroline's ship); a visit to my (Filipina) Wife's daughter and family in Canada next month (there have been no flights with our flight number to Calgary in the last two weeks - we haven't seen them for over three years); and now Womad. And the initial lineup looked so promising. I, like many others, was so looking forward to it. On a big big positive side ... we are both well and able to work - me at home (as a software engineer), and my Wife at a local care home (with the risks that that entails). Stay safe everyone.

Rendrags was kind enough to break the bad news, but I'll put the link here also, so it doesn't get missed. I'm sure ticket holders will be notified by email. petergabriel.com/news/womad-announcement/My last post was on lines of wishful thinking that they could keep it going this year, but cancelling with so much uncertainty with Covid-19 makes more sense. If some miracle occurs and Covid-19 takes something of a summer break, and it's possible, perhaps they will host a concert or two that weekend at the park? Maybe a Peter Gabriel Concert, since he has no current tours to interrupt to do so. That said, anyone with health conditions are going to have to be extremely careful, and the rest of up careful for them, until there is a vaccine or better treatment plan.

Unless you want to have a refund, the good news is that you do not need to do anything at the moment. Tickets are automatically rolled forward to next year and Womad are making sure no one has to pay more than the price paid for this year, for example, if a family have a ticket for a child under 13 but will be a teen next year, the ticket will be honoured for next year. All sounds reasonable to me 🙂
I hope the Flaming Lips will be able to commit to July 2021 (along with the others announced for this year’s festival)
