I have to do it later, as good or bad working for a delivery company makes me essential. 🚚 Can you believe it (because I can’t) but I am classed as a key worker!!!  I am entitled to send my non existent kids to school. it's at times like this that society (hopefully) realises who's doing the really important jobs...

Both Spain and Iran appear to have reported quite sizeable reductions in new cases and deaths today. Probably clutching at straws but may be a faint glimmer of hope?
By the way, does anyone know how Iran is trying to control the spread? It's a sophisticated country and I hope we are all learning from each other.
Edit: looks like I jumped the gun with Spain. Would have been surprising given the stage they have reached. Iran is further through the cycle, still encouraging that their numbers seem to be stabilising (or even reducing).

As Beef said, the important and essential jobs for society to function are being highlighted  And yet here the CEO's of large corporations are looking for government handouts with no restrictions so the can give themselves bonuses and stock buy backs just like they did last time a Republican president was in office. Frankly a corporation should only get help based on how much they directly pay in taxes. "Oh, you creatively use the tax system to not pay taxes, so you shouldn't need tax money, because you already have it."

It was encouraging when the Chancellor, during his announcement, mentioned his gratitude to working with the TUC (amongst others but TUC was mentioned first) in getting the different measures put in place. unions have also been in creative talks to protect jobs by making sure employees are adequately funded and small businesses can continue. It pains me to say this but this is possibly the better choice of Government over May and Cameron. At least they are not shy of spending a few bob rather than force austerity on us all (apart from rich tax dodgers that is).

Even now Boris isn't really taking it seriously eg allowing a final drinking session last night - who knows how many deaths that will cause. The Budget spend was to create an impression of excitement to support his Brexit narrative, the coronavirus spend has been forced on him since he knows UK plc will go bankrupt otherwise. Any decent politician would have run at the speed of the rest of Europe. He started by ignoring it, then advocated herd immunity until someone pointed out that would guarantee the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.

He started by ignoring it, then advocated herd immunity until someone pointed out that would guarantee the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. My point being that, they did consult the TUC (and to an extent Unions) rather than just big businesses who would be looking for another way to line their pockets (a case in point being, did his best mate Tim Martin have a say in keeping pubs open for as long as they were - and he certainl would not have encouraged funds to ensure wellbeing of his staff). Certainly cannot dispute the lateness in taking the issue seriously. I am sure that May and Cameron would have talked to business leaders spent shitloads to make sure they were protected but would they have considered the financial health of workers and the less well off. Mortgage holidays is a great step and came first, they were very late in announcing measures to protect tenants and really wonder who had to explain why that was so important to so many struggling to make ends meet.

The only things really hit by this economically so far, are the workers and small business. Since I have to go to work it's just amazing how many cars I see at the grocery stores.
People are ordering online like crazy, especially electronics. It leaves me wondering how hard have these mega corporations really been hit? I wonder if the stock market itself doesn't cause economic problems at times like this by it's own nature?

Yip the supermarkets in the UK are loving the panic buying
they could set very tight limits on what people could buy but they didn't until the shelves were emptied may times over
the food shops are not going to close

You could adopt and charge the parents. It did cross my mind 🤓 I can see that backfiring real quick. As soon as the paperwork is signed, parents shove the kids towards you and bolt for the door. Suddenly you Are a parent. 😲
