On the day the new Bond film was delayed, lets be clear it has been delayed for profit reasons not health reasons. Some of the independent film makers at Glasgow Film Festival are also struggling to find someone to distribute and show their films for the same reason, fear that every is going to stop going out or Government are going to put cities into lock down or ban mass events. Absolutely Del, I don’t think I’ve seen anything saying it’s delayed for health reasons. Makes logical sense to delay new releases until people return to cinemas. ”Coronavirus: After James Bond delay, what next for Hollywood's new releases?” www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51750722

The virus will run a predicable pattern, bumping along the left hand of a bell shaped curve then WOOSH a massive up up, held there at the top and then down. The governments strategy is now to flatten that bell shape so that the country has half a chance of coping. If the modelling is correct it will grip us in 3 or 4 months, if they manage to flatten it the outbreak will peak less but go on for longer. Yes Womad might be cancelled or not, depends on several factors, virus's morph; they change their outer fatty coat, it might become less virulent or less deadly. The peak may have passed so whats the point in cancelling events. The governments emergency powers may give Womad no choice, ticket sales might also be a factor, as would staff to run the event or build the site. Pandemic planning is a known science and the government are releasing the information gradually as they don't want to panic the public. There is no point in worrying most of us will get it, most will recover, I hope I get it soon then I can get on with my summer, help those with it, the country will be partly shut down, firms will go bust, people will stay in. life will go on with alterations, be ready to adapt. I am potentially a super spreader as I go into many different places in a week, I'm also in a higher risk group, I expect I would be tested if I get symptoms, (they will soon get to a point where testing everyone won't be an option) My flu and pneumonia jabs wont help as they only protect against most types of bacterial infection. My neighbour is a Professor of Virology, we have previously discussed a pandemic, we haven't spoken for a week or 2, as there is nothing extra to say.
My advice, it will happen, if you want to delay getting it follow the official advice. Make sure you have good supplies of your favourite pain killer (whiskey I'm sure counts here Del) and supplies of decongestant, keep drinking as you will be sweating- and towels. Big towels to lay between you and the bedsheet to absorb the sweat, as you will be sweating like a Grand National winner!! I shall look apon it as the COVID 19 diet, lose half a stone in a week.

That's the problem with this. A lot of people may already have had Covi-19, but most will have mild or easily mistaken for a regular old cold or flu. Thus, it may seem worst than it is, compared to other viruses. Meaning, especially here in the states, pretty much only the severe cases are being tested. Unless everyone who is sick is tested we won't know what it's real fatality rate is.
Of course, that said the same care you take not to expose your elderly friends and relatives and such from any illness.
Like you Dessettraveller, with the amount of people who work in my building, with two entrances that we have to go through security, who never make an effort to disinfect, more likely to get it than not. And that doesn't include customer pickups that also have security points that ensures maximum exposure to everyone that has entered and left the building.
Thankfully, I'm fairly healthy and have plenty of weight to fall back on. 😉

All of these are true:
- the Troy exhibition at the British Museum that I attended today was full - no tickets available at the door; - the concert at Brixton Hootananny last Saturday was busier than I have ever seen, and I've been to loads, to the point that I left before the end because I felt it was overcrowded; - the away tickets for the football match I am going to on Saturday (Orient v Cambridge) have sold out; - I am seeing the Selecter in Tunbridge Wells tonight, a full house is expected; - the easyJet flight from Gatwick to Almeria that I wanted to book for this weekend was full (the first time ever) so I am now needing to fly to Malaga - I struggled to find a seat on the 11.12am train from Tunbridge Wells to London this morning. - I have not seen a single person with a face mask today (and I have been looking out for them) So I can't see that coronavirus has changed any behaviours yet. Overall, things seem busier than ever.

We were waiting for Apple to re set an an activation lock issue with an I pad, so had a coffee over looking the escalator at West Quay Southampton tonight. Yep, no behaviour change, a good 40% holding the escalator rail, an old couple were gripping it like a vice, some even touched their faces after stepping off it! On that basis there will be a very sudden steep rise in cases, the NHS will fall over but the peak will have passed by end of July. Glastonbury will be some where in the peak of it, they can't reset the date as the crops need planting after the festival has finished.
Fortunately all the elderly relatives are no more, bar 1 who is 150 miles away.

Makes no sense to me, of you are used to holding handrails and need to do so, why place your self at higher risk of fall and injury? The more sensible precautions are (all together) don’t touch your face and wash your hands regularly.

I'm surprised that Glastonbury are offering refunds on tickets (less £25 Admin fee) up to midnight 7th May 2020. By then (7th May) hopefully people will have a better feel for what is going on and the risks etc. Womad still states NO REFUNDS - but you can sell your ticket on to someone else.

Very good point, Also just to add I have now changed some of my habits as a precaution. For example, touching face after holding an escalator rail is a high risk thing, so from now on I shall only pick my nose BEFORE holding the rail rather than after ............ sorted SAFETY FIRST

Excellent, add your mucus to the mucus from coughing and the feacal material already there, alternately anything with buttons is good, lifts, press for tickets, car park payment points, little children (aka Super spreaders)

That explains why I've just been banned from the shopping centre...

I've invested in my own personal handrail and take it everywhere I go... it seems to have done the trick so far...
