People flocking to the big supermarkets emptying their shelves. My local fruit and veg shop has had plenty of stock in and ignored by most of the panic buyers. Today they were serving on the doorstep picking the produce to bring out as requested. Sensible and providing a great service.

...and despite 2m lines taped on the floor, you still end up face to face with the person on the checkout who's serving 100s of people every day... I pointed this out yesterday and the bloke behind the till got really arsey as if it was something personal... I told him Sainsbury's should be doing more to protect everyone, including their employees... jeez

One of our big grocery stores put up a see through plastic at the checkouts. A little late for someone I know who works at a grocery store, who has Covid-19. So far, she's doing well.
I haven't shopped in nearly two weeks. Hopefully, I will be able to find what I need when I get a chance to shop. Milk, bread, and some fresh fruit will be what I need the most. At this point, I'd like to use up a lot of what I have, before replacing.
A problem a lot of panic buyers are going to find themselves in is having to throw out a lot of food that's gone bad, or worse, eating it and getting sick.
Anyway, like so many, hoping for a summer reprieve from this.

Sure there will be a lot of waste once this is all over. Even once precious toilet rolls and tins may get thrown in the bin just to make room for normal life and a clear out to make space.
I am using the opportunity to use up and make space in my freezer.
By the way, do not need fresh milk as I have switched to non dairy. Oat milk tastes ok and lasts for ages, better than the long life milk I used to buy for my parents in case I could not do their shopping at any time, I had stocked up a couple of months ago (along with bog rolls, I buy lots when at a good price - not because everyone else is panic buying)

I'm not intolerant as much as sensitive. I tried the other 'milks', but find milk to be the best in my decaf coffee. Ah, getting older... Anyway, if I drink a bit less than I normally like to I can stretch what I have for another week if I have to. As it is, we have two confirmed cases at work. I suspect we have more, but the way the virus is, most of us won't realize we have it until we've been working with it. Also, the lack of testing capability in the States doesn't help. Of course, this is because we have a President that wants to keep the confirmed numbers down, because he's more worried about his image than about people. Where I work everyone should have already been tested. Afraid when it hits at work, it's going to hit hard. Oh, one of the bubble people at work thinks he had it in December. Apparently, the current conspiracy hypothesis out there is it's been around a long time, blah, blah, blah. Yes, China was slow in fessing up about their problem, but with the Doctor that warned other Doctors about it, getting in trouble before catching and passing from the virus, we know the likelihood that it had been around too much longer than his warning is false. Problem with anyone thinking they've already had it, will make them careless and more likely to get it and take it to their family, not to mention give it to the rest of us. That and if people were getting it here in December, we would have already hit rock bottom. Insanity. Anyway, so far so good, but after my intestinal thing early last week, I've been worried I'm one of those that has it, but doesn't know it.

Ahh at least we have good honest leaders in Johnson and Trump... At least, that is what they are compared to Bolsonaro the President of Brazil. Claiming Brazilians have a natural immunity and can even be covered in excrement with no lasting harm.
If there is one good thing that might come out of this, is that people will wise up to the constant lies from ‘popular’ righ5 wing/fascist leaders, especially when they realise that it is not just the poor and vulnerable that have been suffering all this time but that their own lives have been negligently put at risk.

Don't count on it. Pretty sure Brazil's leader is saying that, because like Trump, and their ilk, they think it's no big deal to let the old (except them, of course) the poor, etc die from this, as long as they can keep the economy moving. You know, get rid of all those pesky people they see no benefit for themselves from.
The most dangerous thing for some of the Trump followers is they are buying into that the flu they had in December was really Covid-19, so they think they are magically immune now. The problem when people join a cult such as the right wing is, it's really, really hard to see reality anymore. Especially, when the cult leader (Trump) tells you if you believe and trust him it makes you smarter than everyone else. Even Doctors and Professors and well, everyone. Sigh, no wonder the earth is trying to shed itself of us.

So Boris and some of the cabinet haven't followed their own advice and have tested positive.
In fact Boris is the first world leader to test positive.
Who would have thought a person so had been sacked 3 times for lying, took no responsibility for fathering 5/6 children and a few weeks ago was talking about 'herd immunity' would turn out to be unable to take responsibility for his own health and hygiene or those around him.
Action speak load than words.
We don't wish him any ill or his pregnant partner (number 7ish), we just hope he gets the fecking sack.

But if Boris gets sacked, you get Dominic Raab replacing him, who only recently realised Dover was important to trade!

The stupidest thing I've read so far that doesn't involve a politician, instead of staying home people are fleeing from where they leave to areas less effected. Stupid, because by not staying home they not only increase the chance they'll get it, but will likely take it to wherever they go. This is happening around the world. Selfish, stupid people.
