I wasn't looking forward to the weekend - I thought I'd struggle with there being no Womad and end up being a bit miserable. But I tuned in to Radio Womad for a lot of the time and really enjoyed it. Some good archive sessions and tracks which brought back good memories. Good t ohear Cal and Del getting mentioned several times, once referred to as 'hardcore' Womaders!
I also watched some of the videos I recorded back in 2008, my first Womad experience. Some great discoveries - Sean Kuti, Rachid Taha, Hossam Ramzy, Toumani Diabate, Speed Caravan, Orchestra Baoboab etc. Though sad that Rachid Taha and Hossam Ramzy both passed away last year. Also heard you get mentioned a few times. |

Are you suggesting we only ever have virtual WOMAD in future just so we do not have to pack wet tents 🤪 no, just looking for a bright side, we would always prefer there to be a real WOMAD each year |

The rest of the music was a lovely mix of different styles, another reflection of diversity of WOMAD. There were some parts we didn't take to but that fine as we don't like all the music that get played at WOMAD. What also worked was hearing the DJs we had heard at WOMAD and messages from other WOMADer being read out. By the end of the weekend there had been over 11k listeners which can be a bad thing. As for the shows being available to be listen again, Radio WOMAD are hoping this can happen so watch this space...... |

Unfortunately I missed the whole thing due to family commitments, Ho hum, at least it wasn’t the real thing. Sounds like it was a blast and a pleasant reprieve, well done Womad 👍

Too bad they couldn't have left it up longer. Some of the stuff was on YouTube,so may be able to still find that. |
