Just checked the WOMAD site and it seems they are trying to put together a WOMAD Gran Canaria on 19-22 November 2020. They are only on Facebook and my Spanish these days is pretty much non existent (don't totally trust the auto translators), but it seems they are trying to get something together. Not sure if it's smart, but I get bands and their crews needing to work and people just wanting to get out. Perhaps it will be more of a virtual affair?
Anyone have more info or thoughts?

Hmmmmm. The link on the Womad site takes you to a Facebook page. Perhaps they are planning a local, social distance event without encouraging people travelling. If so, hope it’s done appropriately and there may be some Spanish acts to watch online.

I'm not sure, but I think that one has only had a Facebook page as it's a free event.
I can't imagine WOMAD doing anything irresponsibly, but with Covid19 spiking in so many places around the world it seems a bit risky, even if done as safely as possible. However, since it's a free event, perhaps it will have crowd restrictions and much of it will shared through video feed.

The Canary Isle have very low infection rate so as long as the locals are careful it should be fine
glad something WOMAD is going ahead

Would be great to be able to go if this is really going ahead but bizarrely, given low infection rates in the Canaries, it would be illegal. Another random act of government by our esteemed political leaders.

you may need to quarantine at both ends which may take the shine off of things

It seems the local government changed its mind and there will be no WOMAD this weekend. Looks like the rug had been pulled out a while ago, like a few days after I started this thread, but I just caught up to it now.
As before, it's a virtual recap from another year. In this case, last year.

It would figure I could have done a WOMAd 2021 to this year, but am going to do a 2022 instead. Just too many ifs.
Might take the chance of being part of Biden's inauguration, because, yeah. If someone ratfecks this election, I will take the risks and be part of the biggest Women's March ever.

I'm going to guess it may have been a go, until people from outside the GC started to try to book. Don't blame them it's getting crazy in the States. So many deniers making it deadly for everyone.

Hopefully, will be Biden’s inauguration and looking forward to seeing Kamala Harris as Vice President. Be so good to see President Harris some time in the future (maybe in four years time but not sooner than that). Sadly, looking at the election results and how the Trump support was rallied, I cannot see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ever being a presidential candidate. The fight for women’s rights is far from over, this is from today’s guardian. www.theguardian.com/society/2020/nov/22/new-equalities-commissioner-attacked-modern-feminism-and-metoo?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
