Peter Gabriel is interviewed on the Radio 4 Today programme this morning. Probably too late to catch it live but may be worth a listen on bbc radio catch up. He will be talking about the dire situation for festivals and the desperate need for some support from the Government. So far, still does not bode well and don’t know how keen the Government will be to help out what is an important part of the economy. I heard it, just after I woke and turned the radio on at about 7:30am. Sounds like it is basically down to if the govt will insure the festivals against having to cancel late into planning (and even building) as commercial insurers don't sound keen to take them on It can be listened to here at the 1:32:14 point: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000x0ty (no idea if it can be played outside of the UK, sorry) Then go forward on the same programme to around 2:17:28 when a Treasury minister is quizzed about it (amongst other things)... not that you'll hear anything resembling an answer, of course... Thanks for pointing out the times nigenet - would never have got to it otherwise. What can we say? Dear old PG talking wisdom and sense... Jesse Norman, a typical Tory twat... joining the usual dots - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Norman

If its down to him Womad is dead in the water as he and his like will never have any experiance of the real world. No pun intended PG if you are reading this but may be MPs should see first hand Real World life.

Quite DT... Blurrgghh! But where would this stupid country be without the Tories' titled and entitled forbears, all that massive inherited wealth and Eton etc? How can this be? Why don't more people see that this is not democracy? I'd happily accept that there would be a couple of ukip nutters in Parliament if the rest of the MPs were more representative...

I hope the Govt do cover the risk of a further delay for early summer festivals, the Govt would want them to happen as a massive moral lifter for the country. Not only for the festival goers but also for the rest of the population watching the news and seeing people having a good time and normality returning. It’s important for Governments to raise spirits, hopes and aspirations. It would be a relatively low cost win for them and they like all parties want votes. It could be a simple scheme of underwriting risks of approved events being undertaken within 4 weeks of a planned relaxation of freedoms. I suppose the Government may be looking at this from another angle and thinking “The last thing in the world that we want or need right now are 30,000 or more people dancing around together and that being broadcast around the nation and world, how could we ever get people to be sensible again if there’s another wave,” they may well be thinking Festivals are “last in the queue mate!”. I guess we’ll know soon enough.

I guess they say as little as possible in order to maximise manoeuvrability of policy and guidance. Less they say now, the less they commit to, the more options they have in the future? I don’t know 😂🤣😂🤣

Each an everyone of the are a disgrace to the Scotland and the UK. Sadly football fans all over the world think they can ignore any COVID rules Can you imagine the 'tartan' outrage there would be if that was England fans in Edinburgh?

... what is it with football? Never understood how it turns people into tribal zombies... they're only watching people kicking a ball. Or am I missing something? I must be...

Still no news from Womad. With little over 4 weeks to go, would expect one very soon.
This article doesn't make for good reading...
