“ As we continue along the road to WOMAD 2021 following the government’s roadmap, we can see “normality” come into view on the horizon and dancing in a field again gets ever closer. We hoped to bring you our next artist announcement today, but we have to ask you to be patient for a little longer while we assess the impact of international travel’s narrow corridors opening, and what that means on our artists ability to join us at Charlton Park in July.
WOMAD is excited to have travelled so far in such challenging circumstances. We want to acknowledge the tremendous support and encouragement that we have had from artists, contractors, crew and all the members of the WOMAD family who have bought tickets. It is this support that has kept us on the road and driven us ever closer to our final destination, WOMAD Charlton Park 2021.”

Not announcing yet another year delayed. Here's hoping the artists involved are able to travel at that time. |

Well, the Flaming Lips no longer have Womad listed on their website!
Got bad vibes about this year and wonder if we will hear something very soon.

I know there's increasing doubt over whether Womad will go ahead. Festival director Chis Smith said on Music Planet recently that it all hinges on the current Covid restrictions being fully lifted - a festival of the size Womad isn't viable with social distancing measures in place.
But there is still hope. I see that Selector and The Comet is Coming both have Thursday 22nd at Womad on their website gigs pages.

I’m optimistic and will make the best of it. Maybe if fewer people go we’ll be able to get nearer to the stage in the arboretum, whatever it’s called, and have a more intimate experience 😍. Anyway we, and the organisers, can’t afford too many years off. Nostalgic memories of Womad BC ( before covid).
If it happens, pinch me to remind me it’s real 😄

I've been keeping an eye on the updates. Here's hoping it's still a go, even at a limited capacity. It seems to me WOMAD is more willing to work with the guidelines than other festivals that seem to have an all or nothing attitude. Here's hoping your end of July date is still a date. As it is, they will likely have to make a decision soon. Fingers crossed it's a happy one.
