Special editions of Music Planet on Radio3 will be broadcast on the Saturday and Sunday of 'Womad weekend':
BBC R3 Womad weekendThat looks like a great line up from the BBC. Such a shame they were unable to continue with a a stage at Womad, they provided some great performances over the years. The Radio 3 stage in the arboretum was a joy but a senior executive from WOMAD told me that it encouraged punters who brought their own drinks and sandwiches and didn't spend any money at the festival other than the entrance fee. This was the reason it was moved to a busy walkway and became the Charlie Gillett stage. The poor old packed lunch brigade who used to lie down all day in front of the Radio 3 stage got trampled on when the Radio 3 acts moved to the Charlie Gillett stage. |
