Thanks sc - I've missed hearing him ever since he got booted from the BBC over the trouble with his missus... I really liked his earthiness vs other Radio 3 presenters on the Womad weekend broadcasts (I remember him once reading out the info on one of those big 'everything including the kitchen sink' bands on the main stage, and he said 'well, that sounds like a recipe for a bloody racket'... and sure enough, it was... will definitely have a listen!

Look for a nice episode called "Is it Rolling,Bob?" Andy reminising about Bob Dylan

Some great stuff on there SC. Thanks for the link. A lot of the Songlines stuff I know but lots more I’ve not come across. I’ve also signed up for the Rainforest World Music Festival virtual experience for 3 days this month. Of course it would be nice to go but now that we’re all out of the habit of flying everywhere on a whim, maybe that should become a thing of the past. ( BC = Before Covid 😄)

One might be tempted to suggest the alternative title as 'Andy Kershaw Plays Some Bloody Great Records and Quite a Bit of Utter Rubbish an' All!' but then it wouldn't be a proper Kershaw show if not, eh? It's good to have him back!

Just posted by Mr Kershaw on Facebook “ This just in... The next podcast of Andy Kershaw Plays Some Bloody Great Records will be delayed for a few days, but for a good reason. I'm thrilled to tell you that Half Man Half Biscuit are coming to record a kitchen session next Monday afternoon. It is hugely generous of them to do it. And I'm really moved and humbled that they agreed. The finished programme should be with you towards the end of next week. Meanwhile, if you have any questions for Nigel and the boys, please leave them in the Comments below. Worth waiting for, I hope you'll agree. The podcasts we've done so far, with kitchen sessions by Steve Tilston, Martin Simpson, and The Oldham Tinkers, can be accessed by clicking this link... andykershaw.co.uk/category/podcast/”

Podcast 5 “Half Man Half Biscuit - Live In Kershaw's Kitchen! The latest edition of the Andy Kershaw Plays Some Bloody Great Records podcast is now available. And, on it, I'm thrilled to have the national treasure that is Half Man Half Biscuit playing a live session in the kitchen. Among a number of old favourites, they also play two new songs, never before performed in public - When I Look At My Baby, and I'm Getting Buried In The Morning. The podcast is available on most podcast platforms, although you may as well just click on this link to it on my website. andykershaw.co.uk/category/podcast/I hope you enjoy it. (Thanks to John Burscough for the photos).”

I’m just listening on the Sony headphones. He’s playing ‘Idiot Wind’, one of my fave Dylan tracks along with hundreds of others. “Down the highway, down the tracks, down the road to ecstacy…” Such amazing words.

He’s playing ‘Idiot Wind’, one of my fave Dylan tracks along with hundreds of others. “Down the highway, down the tracks, down the road to ecstacy…” Such amazing words. From the ‘Blood on the tracks’ album, which is a fantastic record and maybe his greatest album. Produced after a messy divorce (or so I understand) and the experience is reflected in the powerful lyrics. Highly recommend a listen to the album to anyone not familiar with it, even if you are not a fan of Bob Dylan, it is very different to what you may normally expect from Dylan.
