I normally buy a CD or two, and sometimes queue up for a signing, but not this year. Not sure why, I think I was probably too busy trying to fit everything else in that I didn't find the time to browse through the CDs. Note to self - make sure I do next year!

I generally find I am slightly disappointed by the CD shop. Generally stock the big headliners and often too pricy to take a hit on one. How much of a cut do WOMAD take from any sold? Is the WOMAD shop the best place to make a purchase if you want to give as much support to the artist.
Other artists may stock a few but if they aren't staying on site they take them away with them when they leave.

Going back a few years (not sure how many - 10 or more?) the Womad shop used to be an Aladdin's cave of musical treasure, alongside the festival's headliner's releases. I could spend hours and more £s than I could afford, looking and rushing back several times to grab yet-more CDs after seeing unexpected just-discovered acts. Shame if that fun is gone...
Actually, fun has been in increasingly short supply in the last few years... in this government's Orwellian double-speak, they'll be telling us misery is the new fun... screaming and wailing instead of laughing until you cry... you won't even remember what fun was. Mmm... not sure how buying CDs at Womad took such a dark turn... oh yeah, the last few years...and the prospects for the next few... that's what did it.

Del bought CDs but the range of CDs was limited especially from the non UK artist, a sign of the digital times and baggage allowances

Del bought CDs but the range of CDs was limited especially from the non UK artist, a sign of the digital times and baggage allowances I can imagine... were some bands selling CDs after their sets? Coming home with a bundle of unexpected CDs was a real joy.

Not that we saw, there were signing tents but although we saw queues of people we didn't see any bands signing....
