Mrs Lowry & Son
this intense 2 hander for Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall works on a number of levels, if you can get low beyond the love hate relationship between mother and son
the brutality of the scenes in the claustrophobic bedroom can be tense and funny at the same time
great performances from Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall, mind you that is all the film has

Thanks for the review. Does not sound like it matches up to Turner. Might go along if it comes local, just for the performances by Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave but doubt if I will travel an6 great distance.

Last night saw Ad Astra starring Brad Pitt and also featuring the brilliant Donald Sutherland. Thought the film was great, especially as did not know what to expect as there was very little pre talk or spoilers about the content. Will resist saying anything more other than, well worth seeing.

Del has finished watching Blake's 7
Series 1 took a while to get going, series 2 and 3 were very good with classic episodes, series 4 sadly showed the BBC giving up
there were some lovely interviews on the dvd extras including many of the designers which showed how creative on a shoe string budget the can be BBC

Did anyone see The Souvenir by Joanna Hogg yet? Her films always make me want to scream, and this one is no exception, such is the unbearable tension she achieves between her characters. That's a compliment by the way. It often had me laugh out loud too, something I rarely do, and then close to tears. The soundtrack is also stunning, and the closing track by Anna Calvi is immensely powerful (and I hated her at Womad).
It's a very British film (despite Martin Scorsese being an executive producer) and it's clearly possible to miss the point completely (as evidenced by the many negative reviews from our American friends on IMDB).
Possibly the best film I have seen this year.

Del saw Terminator Dark fate or Terminator 15 as it was printed on his ticket
Del enjoyed the film and thought it was good to see a strong female cast and characters, the special effects are very well done but the film lack some fineness when it come to the plot. There are the usual classic one liners but you can spot them coming a mile off.
