Just been to one of those Cinema places (apparently they were quite popular once). To watch the musical, In The Heights. Thoroughly enjoyed it, links to the people behind Hamilton and you can see similarity in the style of the music. But was also a good story about the Latin American communities in New York and how they struggle to keep the community together.
I recommend watching, preferably at the Cinema.

Just been to Monmouth to watch La Cha Cha, the follow up to the welsh classic Twin Towns. Recommend watching if you get the chance (do not know how it will be released across the country outside of wales itself). It is bizarre, entertaining, laugh out loud funny and very original. It is tempting to go again on Wednesday when the writer/director Keith Allen will be giving a q&a afterwards.
oh, and amazingly, it was all filmed on iPhones

Another film set in wales last night. The Toll. Reminded me a lot of Fargo with welsh language thrown in at times. Very enjoyable although very violent and sweaty. Great to see Wales as a film location with its own unique film industry. Not sure how much of a general release they will get but glad I have opportunity to see them by popping over the border to Monmouth. Really appreciate having a small independent theatre/cinema that is able to put on these presentations.

Cracking film, hopefully it will be released.
Green knight, was okay, very stylish, borrowed from many great directors and films. Made for streaming.
No time to die, well made Bond film, sprinkles of in jokes and not too action heavy.

Agree with the Green Knight, ok but not as outstanding as the hype made out. not fussed on seeing James, did get fed up with all the product placements in earlier films I can easily give it a miss. Do hope it continues to draw big crowds as the independent cinemas are desperate to see viewers returning and this is the film they are relying on. There are lots of films coming out which I am looking forward to seeing on the big screen, including the latest Marvel offerings, west side story, the last duel, dune, death on the Nile and, most exciting of all (and for me a bigger cinema event than Bond) WesAnderson’s new film ‘the french despatch’. getting back to pre Covid normality, just how did we manage to fit all this in with our lives?

Can't say I ever enjoyed going to the cinema, except maybe the first time with my first girlfriend in one of those mostly gone 1930s cinemas in Maidstone in 1985. Dune
If you have read the book, you may not enjoy this take on the story. If you haven't, then we would suggest reading the book after seeing the film.
Big on style (sometimes it does feel like your watching an advert) but light on plot and character development

Watched Dune last night and really enjoyed it. So much better than the previous versions (film and tv).

Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary - film of a concert at the Royal Festival Hall by an ensemble playing Tubular Bells plus a few other Mike Oldfield numbers, incorporating dance/acrobatics from a troupe of performers, which is quite spectacular. Worth a watch.

Did anyone see The Batman? I was picture double for the Penguin played by Colin Farrell. Still not sure whether I actually made it in to the movie, but it was an amazing experience being on set and having adoring fans screaming at me (or possibly Robert Pattison, it was hard to tell)...

It's someone who looks like the actor, and is used when it's not worth having the actor on set eg for hand shots, or where the character is in the background. I did some stand in work too, basically walking through some of the scenes to help set up cameras, lighting etc. All sounds quite glamorous, and it is to some extent, but mainly involves hours of waiting around.

I thought it might be something along those lines... when you see all the endless names scrolling (especially the famous and wealthy ones) at the end of a film, and imagining all the hanging around and repeating scenes, I find it amazing that so many films get made/churned out...
