Poor show from JC today. The timing of his political point scoring against Tories cuts rather bewildering to say the least. But up stepped Yvette Cooper. Hooray! Russia and Putin. Propping up abusive regimes (Syria), shooting down civil aircraft (Insurgents in Ukraine), invading sovereign territories (Crimea), human rights abuse, corruption, cyber interference in democratic affairs, murdering their own on foreign soil including the latest nerve agent attack. JC has thrown away his chances of becoming PM.

JC has thrown away his chances of becoming PM. I think one of the biggest problems with JC is that by nature he is an activist/protester. Activists and Protesters have a vital role to play in all democracies, they should be listened to, their thoughts should be taken account of, BUT they are not good Leaders of Countries because their views would come from one or a narrow band of perspectives and not able to take account of the holistic view needed. On the whole Russia thing, yes I agree with your summary of Russia and Putin, but it is weird that in May's recent speech she did talk of the need to bring the Country together. What better way than a common enemy? But I do agree we must stop Russia from all that you state above, but is May using this to bring us together? Also with the insanity of Brexit (why haven't the UK media publicised the fact that Kremlin Pro Brexit Social Media postings got 10 times the hits in the UK than those issued by Leave.UK? I have only seen it in the FT), we desperately need to establish ourselves a place on the top table of the world. We are leaving the biggest economic zone in the world and going it alone, we are a laughing stock in the world, soon to possibly be the Former United Kingdom of England and Wales (FUKEW). I do wonder whether a bit of chest beating and sabre rattling is just the first step in us establishing ourselves as a world power. Scary shit ....

Ahhh, but remember we can rely on calling up soldiers from the commonwealth to sacrifice themselves on the battlefields of Eastern Europe in the same way that we did in good old days of empire.

Yes, well, the corporatists/conservatives over here are busy trying to privatize the international space station. After all, space belonging to everyone doesn't increase their bottom line. It could als be, they are figuring the chosen will be able to leave to live in space once they make the planet uninhabitable, or difficult to live on. They want to be the ones who get to choose who goes. I'm starting to think the extremely wealthy have been watching too many movies and have lost all sense of reality. After all, they watch the Hunger Games and the like, and think, hey the rich people like me are living pretty well, what's the problem? I say, if the corporations want a space station they can build there own damn space station. They want to leave for space, hmm, wait if they'll go now I might be convinced to help fund that. I think everyone who pays taxes in the world should be able to veto the theft of space. It's not Trump's to sell. Then again, he was always bad at being a real estate mogul. Well, until the Russians found a convenient stooge to launder money through. The only thing we can hope for is that the security agencies of the USA,and perhaps the free world, are loyal to its citizens and not it's corporations. In the mean time, I will turn to the beauty of the world and a silly horse to help me hold onto hope that the world is not about to lose it's mind and start another world war.

So, what you are saying is science research and knowledge is up for grabs from the highest bidder, to rake in a massive profit passing on the benefits to society that took risks and provided the original funding.
In the uk we once had Robert maxwell. He made shedloads of money buying up lots of publishing houses providing acedemic journals to universities and other institutions. Once affordable, he simply saw the captive market, ratcheted up the price and allowed the money to flow in until he was seen as a rival to murdoch. On the plus side, he did enjoy going to sea in his fancy yacht and, well you can guess what happened next...

The non politicians are usually the most refreshing and none of this political point scoring bullshit. Except any Daily Mail colourists Absolutely, one thing I like about Question Time is that they generally have one person who is a "Creative" i.e. a poet, an actor, an author, a comedian etc. and I think that is because they are great "observers" of the stupidity, naivety, love, brilliance, and emotions of humanity and that gives good balance against the political dogma. However I would criticise QT for it's pro Brexit stance. Between Jan 2013 and Feb 2018 they had 35 appearances of MEP's .... The Political balance I hear you ask? The BBC is balanced of course, or is it The Brexit Broadcasting Corporation? Labour 0, Lib Dem 0, Green 0, SNP 0, Plaid Cymru 0, Conservative 2, UKIP 33

Occasionally the creative artist can be little out of their depth and can make for an awkward show. I seem to remember the chap from Blur (not Albarn or Rowntree who stood as Labour Councillor) providing very little.
However Brian Cox was excellent.
Don't watch QT that often these days. Maybe the format is bit tired.
In other news -Interesting to see George and Tony together talking about the huge vacuum in the centre of politics.

BTW, there have been marches before, Chicago has been having these marches for a long time now. Far too long. Hopefully, now that it's gone national something can happen, but as for America, the judge positions the Republicans that are deep in the NRA's (weapo0ns manufacturers) pockets are busy filling as fast as they can. Positions that should have been filled during President Obama's Presidency. As it is, voting the Republicans that have been complicate to so many horrible things may not be enough. As, they have filled the judicial system with judges that are equally corrupt. It's going to be a long hard road. On a personal note, the first person I knew to lose a brother to gun violence in Chicago was a Sergeant I knew when I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford, oh so long ago. I was his friend before he was the first in my chain of command. His brother was shot and killed in December of 1990. Probably cost me a ribbon before I left Upper Heyford while he was on emergency leave, as he was my Sgt. That's OK, he had much more important things to deal with. He grew up in the notorious Cabrini Green and was the absolute kindest person you could ever have as a friend.
Here's to hope.
