BTW, I'm sure Chicago would love to lend you these guys for the summer, winter is their favorite season in Chicago: to battle UK's problem with these guys. www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-35927925Seriously, a 40-80 pound ticket to a person who can afford to gold plate their car?

Has anyone else been directed away from this forum to different pages, pretending that a virus has been detected...or today to a porn site? I have anti virus protection courtesy of F Secure, but I'm uneasy about it.

I haven't had that problem in direct relationship to this forum or another that I belonged to before making this one. The banner ads should be it. I have had that problem other places. Besides some news sites and gocomics, it's usually someplace I clicked on in relation to a search. I find dumping my cookies and search history usually gets rid of that. Sometimes I run a disk cleanup, plus the virus scan just to be sure. Because of Proboards request to keep forum content PG13, I don't see them allowing invasive pop up ads for porn.

I have anti virus protection courtesy of F Secure, but I'm uneasy about it. It might have happened to me about a week and a half ago. I was returning home from an evening out with friends and was somewhat "Relaxed" I checked my phone, I usually go through the following process, "Messages" "Facebook" "Email" "Forum". To be honest I don't know what stage of checking I was at when suddenly "BANG" my screen was full of porn!!!!! I tried "back tab" but it was stuck in a loop, between porn, more porn and warnings that I'm under attack and I should buy this software etc. Mrs SC tutted when I showed her in a panic, told me to turn the phone off and have a look in the morning, I did that all was well and it hasn't come back.

That is exactly what happens to me SC...I only ever access the forum on my phone. I click on a thread and get exactly what you've described. The only way to get out of the loop is to close Chrome completely. I've deleted my browsing history and cookies, run F Secure scans (which never show anything untoward) but eventually it happens again. I don't like it!

If it were up to me, the Traffic wardens would get to paint "cock piss partridge" on every offender. Edit: I realise that there's a very good chance that some people, especially overseas who might not have the foggiest idea what I'm going on about. For clarity:

I'm suspecting the attack ads may be coming from YouTube, and perhaps other links? But are not a direct effect from the forum.
My best advice, should you have any kind of the 'You are doomed with errors detected on your computer if you don't click on this!' message pops up. Don't click on it, unless you think you may want to buy what they are selling. Be very careful of downloading even a free scan. I accidentally did that a few years ago with my last computer and took a while to clear up, and it's hard not to believe it may have contributed to that computers ultimate demise.
As for do's, if you don't already do so, because you are smart people...Do, on a regular basis clean your computer of cookies, unnecessary temp files, thumbnails and such, and run virus scans.

BTW, I wouldn't stop linking YouTube and such, just know some sites allow a bit more aggressive advertising.

You're welcome.
Not sure it's YouTube, as I messed around on there a bunch today and no weird popups, aside from the annoying ads that show up in some of the videos. OK, Now photobucket on the other hand.... sigh I know these sites need to make money, but they stand to lose subscribers with that stuff, if you ask me. Adding, look for the 'hide' tab, as clicking on the x that should close it, will take you to their site instead. Sheesh, seriously? You want me to not buy your stuff, do that. I have to admit, even I click on the banner ads that are relevant sometimes.

I never knowingly click on any ads, but I will be extra vigilant and see if it happens again.

Are there any words, any words at all, that can be used to accurately describe a man who willingly avoids (evades, ducks, runs screaming from, gives the middle finger to or whatever verb or compound verb you choose) paying his taxes whilst de-funding the health service and reducing the benefits that the poor and disabled receive?
