Well, I got to Blacks in Sheffield. I was hoping to have a look at the Berghaus Cairngorm 3 and the Vango Omega 250 as well as some others. They had the Cairngorm 2 and the Omega 350 pitched Had a look at a few others up there, including the Berghaus Peak 3.3 which looked really good. Huge porch, but not as over-the-top size-wise as the Omega 350, but lying down in the inner didn't feel that good. A lot of umming and arring was done. I sat inside the Cairngorm 2 which was fairly spacious in the porch and I could lie down quite easily in the inner, although I had to lie in the middle, and sitting up in the inner there was decent headroom in about half of the inner area. That one wouldn't be big enough for me and my stuff, but the design felt pretty good size-wise and I could imagine how the larger Cairngorm 3 would feel. So after a lot of thinking, and being assured of their reasonable returns policy I present to you my new tent! www.blacks.co.uk/equipment/246614-berghaus-cairngorm-3-person-tent-dark-green.html

That looks perfect Nigenet. π Ditto. Makes me nostalgic for my old Eureka Timberline, but better with the covered storage area.

Just had a go at putting the new tent up outside. Looks good, nice and spacious inside, but not insanely large Looks like I won't be needing to take advantage of their reasonable returns policy
[Edit] And here it is

I've used a Blacks Tent Pack for ages, and one of the tent poles snapped this year. Well seems like they stopped making them around 10 years ago so finding a replacement wasn't looking hopeful. However through the wonders of eBay, I found another one for Β£15, so now I have 2 Blacks Tent Packs (less one tent pole) which should hopefully keep me going for a few more years...

So, yes... I am considering upgrading from the Small Blue Kettle Of Limited Capacity. It's a damn fine kettle, but the big sticky-out handle doesn't make it the most efficient thing to pack, and - not having a lid - shaking the last few blobs of water out of it before packing it away is a long and tedious enterprise. So I'm looking for something with a lid (which would make it easier to empty, and also mean I can put stuff inside it when packing). A folding handle would be ideal too, for even easier packing. While a whistle would be nice, it is far from essential - the SBKoLC never whistled, even though it was supposed to All the ones I've seen so far, the lids don't clip into place and are very loose which seems an odd design idea to me, as it's going to drop off as you pour the water out, so one which doesn't do this would be nice. Anybody got any tips?

I have just looked at mine a very small aluminium one with a folding handle capacity about a pint. I recall buying from a local camping shop, sadly no name on it. Thin and light
