Love the forum nerds chair PD! And the double scooter, i hope I never need it! Following on from SS's original question on camping equipment, I have seen a silk liner into my sleeping bag. I don't 'wear' my sleeping bag, I turn over inside it so having silky slipperiness is useful - oops if you get what I mean! 😜
And as for tent fetishes.... I fantasised about having a yurt a few years ago, but think getting it across London in the tube would be a bit tricky.

I fantasised about having a yurt a few years ago, but think getting it across London in the tube would be a bit tricky. Me and Mrs Sindigo built a Yurt from scratch some years ago--in fact, we still have it in storage. It was one of the best things we ever did. I'm even fond of telling people that without out it as a project we wouldn't be together. No chance of getting on the tube though. We once carried it about a mile to camp at the Big Chill and it damn near broke us. It's the best tent we've ever owned though. Once the kids are old enough to help me both build and carry another one, we'll get building again.

Dorsets Helen and Steve, Happy New Tent! Which did you choose and have you had a practice pitch? Excited and happy for you Nothing terribly exciting - a Hi-gear 4/5 man with a good hydrostatic head rating from Go outdoors. Not too heavy to carry. We decided not to buy anything too exotic until we had established how much we were going to use it. If we find we are using it a lot we can upgrade later. We had a practice pitch and a practice take down - and we are still speaking!

I beg to differ, Helen - a new tent is very exciting! We've found Hi-gear kit to be very good and durable - we wish you many happy tent times ahead, and H adds that if you didn't have an argument while pitching, you're not doing it right!
