Blue tits are starting to fly off and some have already left the nest. Let's hope they are agile enough now to avoid the woodpecker.

Morning any spring watching woman lunatics....CnD..I am loving the live progs better than Springwatch itself..learn SO much (and then forget it) anyway coffe and brekkie ready so help yourselves. Morning Brett..
One bullfinch chick fledged...in the evening Fiday..so much for they don't fledge late in day! Currently my kitten Blossom very interested in them!
2 black caps fledged..a relief as 3 had died..2 because of the tilt and hole in nest where got stuck.

Beah..lost whole of post due to iPad rebellion! Birds so light get caught in slipstream of fast vehicles and killed. Only4,000 pairs of barn owls over the whole of the country..becoming rare. Huge disparity size of chicks one huge as Brett sai "like a small dodo"!!!! Middle chick tackling a whole shrew..so glad finished my brekkie. Mum still feeding smallest chick..not given up on it yet.

Earlier part outside rabbit cam..fox, badger, hare and little owl..amazing variety of animals in one night. Foxes enjoy beetles and worms in sheep dung..compete with little owl for them.
Redt Kite nest...gorgeous!!!! ...very handsome..lots of wing stretching and flapping. Now preening..delicately ensuring feathers stitched together..such precision.
steven LeQuene story teller lives on Jersey it has largest population of marsh harriers in uk.

Lots of lovely ponds ..a project that he is involved in on Jersey..all natural ponds, all sizes..from bucket upwards..it's the planting that matters and easy access in and out important for reptiles. Straw helps the ph balance essential for a healthy pond. Put in 16 in schools.
Whirligig beetles eyes are in 2 halves..top part for above pond..lower for under surface. Never pick one up inject poison..very painful...ah ha..wonder if that's what bit me years ago..very swollen painful and lasted 2 weeks.
