just seen the forecast for the area, Friday temps going up, risk of mid 30s c, thunder risk is high- but welcome. TBH walking round in desert temps and dancing in a tent which may go to 40c not good and setting up camping in the blazing sun, a challenge. Travelling in the desert. We always stopped between noon and 2.30 under any shade, even part shade gives relief, covering up is mandatory, wear a hat!! Are you dehydrated? Hold your hand out and pull the skin on the back of the hand up- fully hydrated it springs back, dehydrated it leaves a ridge of skin. No risk of a sandstorm though

It's going to be memorable - stupidly hot on Thursday and chilly on Monday. May not get a sandstorm, but dust storm highly likely!

Sunday looks a bit wet and windy now.... Here's hoping it pushes back to Monday... after everyone has packed their tents and gear, of course.

Now know not to trust the weather forecasts. Nearly did not bother to pack boots and waterproofs, so important that I did! Thank goodness the heavy rain stopped Sunday morning and we avoided the thunderstorms previously forecast for Sunday afternoon. Not perfect weather but could have been la lot worse, and never stops us enjoying all the great music on offer.

Sunday was perfect festival weather, warm but no risk of burning to a frazzle or passing out through dehydration and generally dry (except during the walk from Open Air to Siam for Django Django when I got drenched!). Camp Bestival is not that far away, what happened there?

Camp Bestival is on the coast- daft place really, caught the full storm by the look of it, in Hampshire we had 2 1/2 rain according to my rain gauge. The strength of the wind wasn't forecast but Womad stewards let us know, shame they didn't notify on the app. Many young people were inexperienced with not enough tent pegs etc and the bin areas were full of broken tents and gazebos. Womad was defined by the music and not the weather which is how it is supposed to be.

Womad was defined by the music and not the weather which is how it is supposed to be. Camp Bestival was a bit of a disaster with the Sunday having to be cancelled due to severe weather. There did seem to be a bit of a reluctance to warn about the weather conditions. Something did come through on the app but then disappeared from my phone. The CG announcer did even say ‘let’s not talk about the weather’. I was relyin* in the BBC weather app so knew to check all my tent pegs etc. Better warnings for others may not have gone amiss, however, I also think many younger festival goers were not worried about tents back with them.
