The invevitable long queues for the toilets must be annoying for those needing a wee, when men could just walk past to the urinals. This year a few women were brave enough to use the gents urinals I presume with ‘she wees’ and good on them that they were brave to do so. There was also a girl squatting by the side of a urinal block - not quite so sure what to think about that. If Womad allocated a ladies urinal area, do you think they would gett well used? Be a lot less intimidating or embarrassing. Got to be worth a trial, I would have thought

It's not that easy for us gals to access the area unless we wear Y fronts!!! 😊😊😊😊

I think you are missing the point. It was not Womad that was giving out the stickers, nor was it a stall holder, but rather an individual offering them to those that wanted them. That is called freedom, rather than Womad being authoritarian and suppressing the distribution of stickers that (I assume) the vast majority of festival goers agreed with. Clearly you prefer a highly controlled and authoritian environment whereby individual choices and behaviours are tightly controlled. I don’t and I don’t believe most festival goers do, It is very clear that I am saying the fall in attendance is due to Womad allowing itself to be taken over by Guardian readers. There must be too many of them in the management of the UK Womad and they need to be replaced. I think you might have a point on the management side of things, as many of the regulars have commented on here, its lost its edge a bit. But times move on and festivals are big business now so remember the good times of the past and accept times are a changing. Compared to other festival Womad is doing ok.

The problem with not enough portable toilets seems to be a very common problem. I'm pretty sure it stems more from organizers of events figuring out how much use each unit can support between servicing, not how long the line/queues will be at an event selling lots of beer.

So, CurryGoat, your answer is to blame and insult the people that do attend WOMAD for being too open, friendly, and embracing science. From here on, I will not feed a troll. Of course that is not what I said and you know it. If anyone is a troll, missus, you are. It is very clear I am suggesting attendance has dropped because Womad has become too Guardian-reader friendly. The Guardian is overwhelmingly read by authoritarian, corporate socialists and there are a lot more non-Guardian readers who are open, friendly and embrace science who would come if it wasn't for Womad's Guardian-reader image.

Dude. This is her board. She gave us a home here when we no longer had one. She has been nothing but kind, friendly and courteous to us here.
All you seem to have done in your very short time here is moan about the festival because it isn't doing exactly what you want it to, insult all the people who go there and insult the people on the forum when they call you out on it.
I'd suggest that instead of making sweeping unfounded generalisations, and then insulting people for not agreeing you, perhaps you could try being less confrontational, and being more constructive.

CurryGoat, a total stab in the dark here, do you run efestival site? No, my friend, I am a fan and I have been going to Womad on and off since the first one at Reading. I want to believe Womad values democracy above all other systems because the most civilised political system available to mankind is capitalist democracy where individualism is respected. The reaction to the Brexit referendum result has made it clear the corporate socialists in the UK do not respect democracy so corporate socialists should have no place in the management of Womad. Womad presents entertainers as reflections of their group cultures and the implication is anyone from any culture can enjoy the product of another culture. One can only sincerely enjoy a product of another culture without looking down on the entertainers if one identifies more as an individual than as a member of a group. Guardian reader type people believe socialists are better than Tories, Trump supporters and Brexiteers and that only the votes of the Guardian reader tribe count. For them, individualism doesn't exist and all Tories, Trump supporters and Brexiteers are evil people who are not equal in value to Guardian readers. These authoritarians who believe in the supremacy of the group over the individual have no business running a festival that promotes individualism.

Dude, you should have more confidence in yourself. Honest feedback was requested for the Womad organisers who look on here for themselves. If constructive suggestions to improve things weren't wanted, they wouldn't have been requested. Your leader will threaten to withdraw her help but she will never carry this threat through. Don't worry, I'm not going to join your community but I am still going to stand up for people who you don't want in your community who also enjoy Womad.

I'm more than happy to hear your views on what you think is wrong with Womad, but having a go at Guardian readers is a bit of a stretch. There is nothing wrong with people voicing their opinions against Brexit at a festival or any where else for that matter, you might wish to have a go next year with pro Brexit stickers 🙂 Saying that it will all be over by then, but it should open up some interesting conversations 😀
