As I said at the time, mass waving of national flags has no place at Womad and I'm pleased it is not going to happen again. By the way, as good as the music is, and I enjoy it too, you do get that DB is a student project and there is nothing authentic about the music or costumes. There is no tradition of Ukrainian folk music. try to get a listen to their last album, you are right they are not a traditional folk band and they never said they were one as for the flags that was a one time deal and no one was forced to do anything and those who want to take part were happy to do so. You can't please all of the people all of the time. Mikey, Del will explain at WOMAD as it a long story that is better with an ale Best explained over a pint of Old Hookey. |
