You're right, of course, Mr Need. This feels a very different Womad with few of us on this forum going - will miss absent friends and the opportunity to meet forum folk not yet met. Being knackered after a day's work doesn't help with the enthusiasm - usually I've been packed and sorted for at least a week by now, but have just got the bulk of the packing sorted today. I was disappointed to miss Siams skirts being lifted and feel I need to see the flags for real next Thursday rather than on screen. I think I just need to be there and let it do it's magic. .....at least I hope so.... I think it's going to be fantastic as usual. If it's a bit smaller than before, that's no bad thing, and the D&B stage is relatively new in any case. If you are packing so far in advance you are taking too much stuff:) Just bring the essentials, relax and enjoy! You're right - nothing lost in being a bit smaller - and an expansion on the Physics side of things is great. The packing is part of the joy for me - part of the build up and it's timing is a measure of my excitement, not the volume of stuff- the earlier the better! Relax and enjoy - can't wait! ππ

Yeah, it's looking like, and I'm guessing, the little spot by the carousel, or if it's not blocked off by the road near concessions by the Siam tent might be the only spots. How dare they use their security cam for security and not WOMAD waves. Too bad they don't put a Webcam up by the letters.

Webby seems to be having some technical difficulties.

It's been down most of the day... let's hope it's just a glitch in the matrix rather than a new Black Mirror episode... maybe where "world music" was a fabrication of the music industry, designed to identify those unlikely to buy the mainstream pop product..drawn to the fields... and... and... Donald big Trump, Boris effing Johnson, and... and... the helter skelter and... it's not how I remember Womad, but I bet that bus back from Womad to Chippenham is full of some kind of psychotropic gas... Please tell me I'm wrong... just a bit, at least

There's a wonderful song thrush who has sung for hours - and did yesterday morning too - so lovely to hear this lone birdsong amongst the occasional air craft noise, unzipping of tents, flip-flops on dewy grass, snorings and random unacknowledged farts.
Mornings everyone!
Kettle's on!
And you can have anything you like for breakfast!

As you can't see through Webby, I'll just share some of yesterday with you.
It was a shorts day, but cooler and not burning heat.
Cosmodrome holds 70 people; domed roof, eyes skywards for new perspectives on our planets, galaxy and universe. Fabulous up close and personal planet footage taking up all your vision so you do feel as if you are there - which is only actually true for one planet, or course.
Live link with CERN showed the new muon sensors. Such staggeringly massive equipment to register such small things. People working in CERN very happy with new toys.
Best natural highlights for me - listening to song thrush on waking in my tent, watching red kites, crow and buzzard over the CG stage.
Best music of the day - RURA.
Best food of the day - veggie mezze
Best visual experience - Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon with graphics on the roof of the Cosmodrome felt very trippy with psychodelia and wonderful mandelbrot zoomimgs. I had an alcohol free day but felt like I'd had a pint or two.
Lovely bumping into forum folk at or on travels between stages.
Sleeps six hours solid last night - fantastic and rare for me.
Wish you were here. I wouldn't bother bring it by your own crockery or cutlery into the arena though - the rinse and refil points are waterlogged and soak everyone nearby. One hand to push the button for water, a plate in the other hand to wash and high pressure water. You can't wash your stuff properly or dry it - not hygienic. Sinks and dirty water collection needs for this to work.
You can also leave your wellies at home!

Typical, I alternated between the main stage and Siam tent all day yesterday, except for Rura! Got to see the magnificent Marja Mortensson instead though, I think perhaps the first time I have heard yoiks being sung properly.Of course, if I was smart I would have noticed Marja is also playing today so could have seen them both...
Yesterday was superb, brilliant mix of music and weather was great for a change. I wouldn't leave wellies behind yet though (he says typing this in the rain).
