Good news WOMAD is going ahead but unless Cal gets both her vacation and has time for the last to kick in we won't go.
Cal is also not sure about going as she has avoided all crowds for the last year and a busy back road full of poeple walk puts her on edge.
We have to decide what we are doing before the 2022 rollover option expires.

Yes, difficult times for Cal, I had to leave my job as I was expected to go into premises where people were deliberatly breaking the law and with health issues it was too great a risk. The health issues bumped me up vaccine list so only 2 months for 2nd jab, but it means my full protection wont cut in until early June. Like Cal I do not mix with any one and shop late when most have gone home.
Rachel and I have decided to go but in separate tents so we dont breathe the same air. Will I be happy to be inside a tent with others dancing about? Virus cases will be low by then. We will both have full protection by then, my mask will be medical grade, all people will or may be tested prior to entry to site. Most will have had at least 1 vaccine dose Womad will follow PH guidance, we know they will.

Womad's Chris Smith on BBC Radio 4's You & Yours talking about some measures for this year's Womad (and other stuff about festivals). First item in the programme www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000tfk4

I am still hoping we reach a 'normal' that allows me to come next year, but am hoping to see a WOMAD wave this year for those that can make it.

Will there be any hand washing facilities like in the old day for us plebs who don’t do la di la ? I cannot confirm, but I would hope there would be extra places to wash your hands. I would definitely expect hand sanitizer dispensers to be pretty much everywhere there is food and purchases being made. After a year of being cautious, we will need to relearn to be normal. With the variants out there, there is reason for concern and do the things that help, wear masks and such, but we will have to reach a point where we will have to live again and without fear. Those that are fully vaccinated should go if they are able. I have the full intention of going next year, as long as it's possible. Not looking forward to the time spent in the airport, or on the airplane, but it's a hard trip to get there by driving, even if I had an amphibious car.

womad.co.uk/the-roadmap-to-womad-2021/There may be an added cost, at cost, of testing before and after the festival. Anyone who tests positive would have the option of having their ticket rolled over to 2022 or a full refund.

First item in the programme www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000tfk4It sounds like Womad is all set to go ahead, but it all hinges on BoJo's roadmap and restrictions being lifted, currently planned for June 21st. With Womad kicking off little over four weeks after this date, it would only take a small slippage in the roadmap to knock Womad on the head.
I understand Cal's decision not to go. There must be many people having to weigh things up and make the tough decision on whether to go or leave it to next year. If Del decides to go, it will be odd seeing Del there without Cal.
I will defo be going, if it goes ahead - I live so close to CP it would be difficult for me to stay away. And it I feel uncomfortable about safety once I'm there, it's easy for me to come home.

Once anyone has had 2 jabs + 3 weeks they have max protection, unless (or until) new variants emerge. With summer heat and low infection levels end of July to September will be the safest time in 2021. Many factors will influence whether you go, my final decision will be in mid-June before the 21st June Womad cut-off date and I will get a blood test in June to see if I have got some of my health conditions under some control. The vaccine uptake in the high-risk groups is only 91%, some of the 9% will be at Womad, albeit with a ve- PCR test. I have ticket, my friend Rachel has not bought her's yet. I may go, but avoid crowded tents as ventilation is crucial - no one gets it outside in the open. We have choices.

Cal has decided to skip this year as she only just had her first jab and may not have her second in time for it too take effect before WOMAD, she's also worried about mixing with so many people after avoiding people for so long.
Del is still deciding if he will go on his own.

Del is still deciding if he will go on his own. In England you book the first and second jab at the same time so you know when they will both be. Is it different in Scotland? Seems a shame if uncertainty around vaccination dates is the main reason not to attend.

If you book via your own surgery rather than on-line then you don’t get to book a second appointment until you get contacted in eleven weeks time. I am optimistic that I will be contacted sooner than eleven weeks although know that I won’t be disadvantaged by it being any later.

Thanks for discovering the early unofficial lineup. I was hoping the Flaming Lips would be there (I think they said they would honour a postponement for Womad). They will be the ultimate party to get over what we have been through, so looking forward to seeing them again. Will also sing along to ‘do you realise’ at the top of my voice in tribute to the few friends and colleagues I lost in 2020.

I hope this line up will come off and this not a cut and paste job from the announcement last year. I didn't think any international artists will be announced until much nearer the festival
