Watched the Shakespeare prog last night - long time without a comfort break, but what a show; spellbound....set aside the time and enjoy it (presuming on iplayer)and nip to the loo first!

Watched the Shakespeare prog last night - long time without a comfort break, but what a show; spellbound....set aside the time and enjoy it (presuming on iplayer)and nip to the loo first! We ummmmmed and arrrrrhed about watching that, thought it may be a bit "high brow" so watched a film that I can't know remember (must have been good). So may just watch the Shakespeare tonight. You are talking about the BBC2 programme with Rufus Wainwright and co. Shakespeare influence on Jazz, stage shows, musicals and film etc?

Yes; the full works... and Rufus was a bit special...... if it was high brow, then it was very good high brow; Shakespeare wrote for everyone; this prog is for everyone too.... I found myself perched on the edge of the sofa, tensed up with wonderment!

Last Friday's World on 3 was a Shakespeare special from Stratford upon Avon too; another I'd recommend; lovely to hear sonnets sung, transporting violin playing and more Rufus towards the end; he has a CD of 9 sonnets out for fans.....

OK, anyone else love Big Bang Theory? Never watch it "deliberately", only when flicking through channels and stumble upon it, then love it. That reminds me of a clip I once saw, it was brilliant ........ I'll try and find it

Will catch on the Friday show, Hippyguyman; thanks! S.C., just watched the clip; hadn't seen it before and it has had me happy and smiling all the way through. No spoilers for people who also haven't seen it yet; but thanks for searching it out - fab!

Haven't seen that! What a treat for that audience! It's about the only show I watch and I didn't jump aboard right away. Would rather watch old reruns then pretty much anything that's out there these days. calndel, yeah, some episodes do feel more like they are there to fill space, but some are still brilliant. I'm amazed at some of their 'guest' celebrities. I believe they have had some actors/actresses that you would never expect on a sitcom, and I think a few of them never thought they'd ever do a spot on a sitcom. So, much as some episodes lack some of the former luster, it is a show I will miss when it finally says farewell. In the mean time, I'll keep tuning in.
