This is political, my ex employers dancing to the Tory tune. Austerity? How many services do you want us to cut? How many more jobs? Well that's me unemployed thanks to those bastards and many more to come. F***ing angry...but at least I have a nice purple festival mac to match my hair amongst one of my leaving presents.

Well PD...you won't be needing that beautiful mac at Womad because it will be sunny every day! Seriously, you're anger is justified and understandable. I don't know which part of the Home Office you worked in, but I know from my own department that cost cutting is the main agenda and to hell with the level of service you provide. It's why I can't wait to leave. The job I loved has been destroyed and replaced with one that gives no satisfaction, seems pretty pointless and causes stress levels amongst staff that are harmful to health....

I worked for a local authority. Mind you I was sitting having a lunctime pub meal with work colleagues and wondered what I had in common with some of them. I don't know how I worked for such bosses with some of those people for so long. Roll on summer and a mac-less Womad!

Hi PD, I do know exactly how you feel, I too worked for Local Authoriies for 36 years and the last 15 odd years have been extraordinarily hard with absolute massacres in services, staff and only increases in demand. I know the feeling, when you looked around your colleagues and bosses today and wondered what you had in common. But, try to remember that they are only human, they are scared and frightened about the future and that includes the bosses too, believe me, they are not happy about the job they have to do, it is not why they went into Local Government. Try to be positive PD, I know it sounds like hippy bollocks but trying to be positive (after all, you are out of that shit hole of a work place) makes a better life than anger ever will. Well, actually, maybe being angry for a while may let some of the pressure out, but, what I am trying to say is don't let it stay, eat you up and screw the rest of your life, we are only here once. Take care, the future is in front of you. xx

The latest cuts will take us to a 40% reduction in money. Formally 48 managers manage those functions its now 18, we need to save more to reach the target so the rest of us are next in line later this year; there is no money so there is no choice.
We were told by a quango yesterday that "to ease the severe financial pressure LAs are under your service will be carried out by accredited trade bodies and private companies" "You can audit those bodies and deal with complaints" ie about 3% of us will be needed. Completely bypassing tendering etc., doesn’t even attempt the illusion of democracy , done under a modernising agenda because the system doesn’t work anymore (but only because they cut the funding) sorry should have used government speak. - The current system is no longer sustainable.
They are all like Jeremy Hunt- a bunch of hunts in fact.
Don’t get mad get even, live long enough to collect your pension by keeping fit, spend all your money & like me prob get dementia and throw yourself on the state who can put you anywhere they like. Except Old coal mines , closed schools, libraries, fire stations, council offices, disused hospitals, council care homes because they are now closed so I'll have to go to a privatised care provider at a government cost of 60k/ year.
Dear government, my Dad had dementia for 15 years, hope you have deep pockets you bunch of hunts.

DT, look after your health and sanity, money is not everything, a job is a job, a life is a life and we only have it once. Ian so glad I made the decision to get out, it was the best thing I have ever done. I thought I had 10 years work left in me to make some money to pay for the extras. I planned to give myself 3 months off to repair myself. I remember Jax saying "it'll take at least 6" so far it has been 18 and I am just thinking about how to make money, although on the positive the anti-depressants and counselling stopped as I walked out the door. Look after yourself DT, anger isn't the answer. I think my "strap line" answers my thoughts.
My Mum has Alzheimers too. Good luck, look after yourself

sadly the cuts in local spending this side of the border is continuing unchecked
the SNP demand more tax powers to improve Scotland and when they got them did nothing with them when an extra 1p on income tax would have cover the latest round of cuts
roll on the summer

PD, isn't it interesting how you see people after you no longer work with them? As for defunding government bodies into incompetency, that is a technique that has been perfected in the States. It is a short term savings that will ultimately cost far more once 'privatized'. Which then they will be more than happily tax you into submission. Sigh, are we there yet? BTW that has been the larger unreported problem of privatization of government jobs. As, not only do the people working those jobs lose pay and benefits, the tax payers will pay more often than not, a minimum of 3 times that person's pay to ensure the private company can make a profit and staff management (usually chock full of nepotism) that wasn't required when it was a government run agency. Over here the current attack is on TSA. Where, let's face it, if you think they are bad when they are making a livable wage, working regular hours. Imagine how they will be if they are both under paid and overworked. That said attaching a TSA funny I borrowed from a site on the info that borrowed it from somewhere else on the Internet.

Like I said dont get mad, get even; wear rainbow nipple tassles.. This afternoon I was talking to my nieghbour who told me what a fine man mr Cameron is and although Boris is a buffoon he quite likes him.
Resisted throwing insults at him. The sad man reads the Daily Mail so there is really little hope. I told him in the event of my redundancy my greatest assest is my house which is now too big and we would be forced to rent it out for social housing whilst we lived somewhere smaller. That took the wind out of his sails.
