Female left the nest and we saw eggs; she called to the eggs when she returned and settled them underneath her There's a likelihood that the bluetit and great tits may end up fed to her chicks .... the nests aren't that far away.... Sparrowhawks' nest - what a treat!!!!

Loads of info on this year's Springwatch series here if anyone wants to know what will be coming up: www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/springwatch............. but no details of the timings of the progs on red button - I'd like to be able to record the lunch time and tea time progs if they are on as we need to go out and do things too!

Deserttraveller, this won't restore your house martin's nest, but may be interesting reading nevertheless; it seems that magpies don't have the overall impact on prey numbers that we have thought.. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/01/150123081801.htmI'd have liked this report to have been broken down by prey species; an overall picture may still be devastating for a single species.

They had a wrens nest; it used an old swallows nest; building that up, and have fledged - they are showing fledging now...
