Great pics of stone curlew..fantastic camouflage..spot the bird. A first for the programme to find one sitting on nest also gone from red list to Amber list and have found 10 pairs nesting at Minsmere..reflecting the nationwide regeneration of the species.

Loving the stone curlews - great that they haven't all hatched by now! Adam great to listen to and it is lovely having been to Minsmere as we can "place" ourselves now - excellent! Curlews are waders which don't like water!

Love that word..they are a crepuscular species and fairly inactive all day..so do not expect spectacular action

They're a migratory species..Southern Europe and North Africa.. Return March/ April wise birds

.. migratory birds - winter in North Africa ...
...usually have two eggs...
...potentially hatching on Wednesday, or thereabouts....

She's sitting on one egg so likely second clutch as first nit successful..think will hatch Wednesday but all bets are off.

Spring been very changeable..cold periods and right now northerly winds..impeded birds returning and nesting so sets period back..but warm periods many arrivals.
