First disappointment of 2022...... Just got a new wall calendar and decided to write all the things to look forward to on there. I have rolled over tickets for both Womad and Cambridge Folk Festival. Just discovered that in 2022 they fall on the same weekend! This has happened in the past, but the last couple of years - before Covid - they were a week apart and it had been possible to go to both. Soooo disappointing. I will have to request a refund for one of them.

I am certainly not unhappy with this line up (double negative, should I just be happy instead?)
Just a little surprised that there is no Orchestra Baobab even though they are in the Country (but will be seeing them at Green Men in August) or Los Bitchos who were sensational at Green Man last year (and were due to play Womad until Covid struck)
Really enjoying Listening to Angelique Kidjo and her Remain in Light album, could be the highlight of the weekend.
As ZR points out, this is just the first announcement.

womad.co.uk/lineup/Took another look at the list and it seems they've finalized it. I have actually seen one of the acts at the Chicago Blues Fest. The Fantastic Negrito. He performed on the main stage before Mavis Staples. Definitely recommend. He did have a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. Thankfully, he was wearing underwear. 😊

There are some great acts in this line-up! Must-sees for me are The Flaming Lips, Angelique Kidjo, Bab L'Bluz and ADG7. Thursday night will be a blast with Selector and Fatoumata Diawara.
I'm also looking forward to seeing Kae Tempest, but I hope not as a headliner as the announcement suggests. I'd prefer someone more upbeat and lively! There should be another announcement to come with a few more acts. Maybe Orchestra Baobab? Hannah Peel and the Paraorchestra? And some Fado, Celtic folk and Desert Blues please!
I see that there are many UK-based artists in the line-up - I guess this follows on from 2019 when Womad had difficulty booking overseas acts post Br*xit, and also possibly repercussions of Covid. So not as many overseas acts as we've been used to in the past, but it's gonna be great!

Looks like a pretty strong line up, all things considered, we are all going to have a blast!

Seems like a Womad lineup …… I ain’t heard of 95% of ‘em and in my book that’s awesome, Womad is all about discovery, confused ears, baffled brain and a happy soul ❤️

I'd imagine there will be a lot of support for the Ukranian's. Interesting to see where they will slot in, maybe first up on Open Air?

I assume you mean Folknery. Wherever they are playing I will be there, just ordered a Ukraine flag to wave in support.
