Hola Forum. Excitement builds and checking festival gear time. Now that Africa Oye is out if the way; wasn’t it fab ? The Saturday in Sefton Park, Liverpool, was packed with families enjoying the sunshine but Sunday was a bit damp. Stand out band for me were Soukustek on Sunday afternoon. Has anyone downloaded the 2023 Womad app ? I see the map is there but times are not posted yet for acts onstage. Makes planning difficult. Must check the Primus stove for paraffin, a pint of tea in the morning is esential, ( call in for a brew, do you do w3w?) and I must remember the tent 😩😆

Greetings Yendor!
The Womad app isn't yet showing the times, but if you add acts to your schedule, when viewed in My Favourites in grid view, they appear as a timetable with appearance times (thanks to Standing Stone for this info!)
I was disappointed that Mokoomba and Rokia Kone clash on Friday, but Rokia is appearing on Taste the World on Friday morning, which will be a great way to start Friday off!

Just wish I was going... Is Standing Stone still around here? Not seen sc here for a while either... Maybe next year Beef?
During Womad last year, a Whatsapp group was set up for communication by attendees during the festival, and the group has continued to exist as a means of communication on things related to Womad. Some of us, e.g Zenrider, Cal and Del, myself, have continued to post to both this forum and the Whatsapp group. Hopefully Standing Stone and SC they will return to this forum as Womad draws nearer.

Greetings Rendrags. I will be buzzing around Charlton Park on afto of 02/07/‘23 in a white and yellow Opel Kadette. As for this forum it has had a more active history. I’ll message you my w3w for a morning brew

Thanks rendrags - next year would be the 30th anniversary since my first Womad in 1994... so really wouldn't want to miss it. I understand that people now have a wide variety of ways of communicating, but I just feel sad that this place has gradually become tumble weed central... and it's a vicious circle, the fewer who post here, the fewer people will want to post here... this used to be a great home-from-home for everyone who was kicked off the original Womad forum when it shut down about 7 years ago. It used to be buzzing here in the weeks before Womad...now I just get depressed to see so often "last post: beef' against almost every thread... bloody beef... and bloody beef isn't even going.

Not quite sure how to do this, but is there any way of making more people aware of the forum? We never get any new members who end up posting regularly. Was there ever a link from the official website?
Are there other Womad forums? I don't have Facebook. There was one on eFestivals once, but I don't think it was ever very active.
Anyone know why some of the regulars stopped posting?

I am in the Oxfam Volunteer Facebook group, and Oxfam send volunteers to Womad. Can mention it there.

It used to be buzzing here in the weeks before Womad...now I just get depressed to see so often "last post: beef' against almost every thread... bloody beef... and bloody beef isn't even going. Sadly the whats app invitation finally appeared after I left Womad last year so I'm not on it, But I too have noticed the rapid decline in posts. I organised a joint camp of my PG friends and Womad friends on here in about 2014 and there was a meet up of PG fans in London before the 2014 O2 gig. So I was surprised to get almost no response to my enquiry about the recent PG O2 gig. Was it just too expensive and no one here went, we don't know. As you say Beef the original Full Moon Club was quite something; the PG Facebook site has some of those members who aren't here because they never attend Womad. May be forums are old hat for a younger demographic in the instant communication era; the trouble is everyone communicates but no one talks to each other any more. They would rather tik toc, snapchat, Instagram, tweet,( not for much longer as the bird brain owner is lightly to be predated on by 'Threads'). Maybe Womad goers use the Womad Facebook site? The Womad team used to look out for the feedback posted on here after each event, so possibly an email (remember them) to the Womad team reminding them the forum exists?

Things move on Deserttraveller. Maybe what forum members there may be are put off by predictive text threads and slimming threads 🤣 and the countdown which has pehaps become passe. I see on fb Womad community there’s a start up of a thing called ‘mike’ ??🤔 Perhaps the whatsapp group fulfils the same need as the forum used to ? In the meantime I’m looking forward to the build, webby and my 15th womad at CP if I have counted correctly. Free hugs to all forum nerds if you see me. X

Sorry not posted so much on the forum recently, since retirement I find I have much less time available as just sooooo busy 🤪
That is not to say I am any less excited about Womad being less than three weeks away and sure there will be much more discussion over the couple of months 😀

X As, long as Pro boards hosts this forum it will be here. Even if only a few of us use it. Sadly, most of the new accounts have been largely spam, or possibly plain old scam accounts. Posting once, with spam link. Or claiming to need to buy, or sell WOMAD tickets (which I recommend not doing on this forum, but through official WOMAD sites), but they never join any conversations. I would not recommend downloading anything from anyone you don't actually know ever. It may look like a download for music, but end up being something that steals all your information off you computer or cellphone or such. Really looking forward to everyone's WOMAD pictures and stories. Hoping Webby behaves itself better this year, so you all can do the WOMAD wave Thursday evening.
