Well, it's done. Spent way too much money, but I'm in the fifth row, and the ticket was not marked up. Definitely better options than I was getting with the presale. Of course, if I had been at the presale day one... It's sad, a third of the front row tickets are already marked up resales. glad to hear you have a good seat Zenrider - I doubt that I will be able to go... as you say, sad to see how cynically some of these tickets are being bought... and resold. It should be illegal to resell for more than the face value. I agree, especially when the company selling the tickets is also the company selling at over inflated prices is also the reseller. Don't even get me started on the "fees."

I saw Burd Ellen last night at Thrive in Cambridge. Fabulous Gaelic noise, highly recommended!

One gig I won't be doing this year is the Chicago Blues Fest. It's the same weekend as Bonnaroo. 🤨
Editing this post, because I was wrong. It's the weekend before Bonnaroo! If I have my act together I can enjoy more of the Blues Fest than most years. 😀

Ticketmaster fees and pricing scams have made me decide not to go to some shows in the past. it's incredible isn't it - in the old days of real tickets and box offices, old style touts were considered to be criminals. They would shadily scout the queues and passers-by, looking to buy and sell tickets, always with an eye out for the police. How did it become such an accepted (not acceptable) mainstream business?

It happens, because countries allowed the market system to rename price gouging to supply and demand. Same thing, but one is illegal and the other is not. I should say, they've priced me out of some future shows as well.
Then again, due to my work schedule, unless I set an alarm, chances are good some shows will sell out before I wake up. 🙄 Such as The Cure. I may have just missed being able to get a ticket for them. I won't be buying a resale ticket. However, I am going to see many fantastic bands for in June at The Chicago Blues Fest (free) and Bonnaroo, so I'm good. OK, I did pay too much to see Peter in September, but even I have my weaknesses. 😉

Last night went to The Forum over in Tunbridge Wells, fabulous little venue (converted Victorian Public Toilets), and is probably my second favourite Kent venue. The Dup Pistols were playing fabulous fabulous fabulous gig, friendly fun crowd, 95% of whom danced through the gig, wish my knees allowed me to, mind was willing, body said no! Brilliant gig

Going to see Depeche Mode in November. Their first show in April is sold out, as are many, so they put out more shows. I think I got tickets, because people missed that they had put out more shows, although the resellers already have about half the tickets available for sale. Some at ridiculous prices, so it may take a little longer to actually sell out this show. Again spent too much, but for about hundred dollars more than most of the other tickets I could have gotten, that weren't already overpriced resale, I get the backstage tour, appetizers, and complimentary drinks, and whatever knickknacks that come with the VIP not on the floor tickets. That's going to be it for me for big name, big price tickets this year, and likely the next few year. Since I haven't done any big name, big price tickets in a very, very long time, and may not again for a very long time, figured why not? Beyond, that I'll stick to local festivals, which often have good bands at no charge. Like Taste of Westmont's annual Tribute to Muddy Waters and such.

Brilliant gig I kinda was hoping to get to this but it didn't work out unfortunately. But yes, the Forum is an old fashioned venue and with the right band, it can be electric. However, SC, you say it's your second favourite venue in Kent, which rather begs the question, what is your favourite? I might actually struggle to name another venue in Kent...

The Bowerhouse, a very intimate and beautiful and friendly venue. They don’t do many gigs, but do get ‘names’. I think it’s maximum capacity is 49 ….. very intimate 👍

My next gig is tonight. Off to see Tim Peake talking at Sunny Buxton Opera House... then my first out-of-town gig of the year is on Saturday - Steve Hillage at the Ritz in Manchester
