Purbeck Valley Folk Festival next week. Salif Keita and Homeland Band performing having missed them at WOMAD due to clash with Genticorum. Le Vent Du Nord another if the headliners. I'm bit intrigued that I see advertising boards up at WOMAD for this festival, not sure if there is some sort of connection between the two Just seen this, I hope you enjoyed Purbeck as much as we did, it packs lots in a small festival and so relaxed, (except putting the tent up in a gale & needing the help of tent neighbours). Le Vent du Nord did not disappoint. The connection might be Malmesbury, The organiser of Purbeck hold a 1 day event in the town.

I was actually bit disappointed by Salif Keita in the end so definitely made the right choice at WOMAD. So many highlights as always and Le Vent Du Nord were up there although I didn't think the set ended that well. My non music highight was going for a run and then going into the sea for a little bit of a dip at Dancing Ledge. Managed to run back, shower and ready for the first act of the day before hitting the ales

Trundled up to Manchester, met up with Nigenet and went to see Eivor supported by Sylvaine at the Manchester Accademy 2. Fabulous Fabulous gig, Sylvaine, is definitely worth checking out and Eivor was utterly spell binding, such a voice, such a master. At times it felt as though Kate Bush and Enya had got jiggy at a party and the resulting love child was Eivor. An utterly awesome gig It was a fantastic gig indeed! And great to catch up, too... Hard to believe it was just over a week ago

Next gig is tonight! Steve Hackett at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Staying overnight at the Premier Inn (the one where you can see the Bridgewater Hall from the hotel's door) ... Then I'll be up early tomorrow for a "reverse commute" (travelling home from Manchester to start work when I get home), as I didn't have enough holidays left to take the day off

Then I'll be up early tomorrow for a "reverse commute" (travelling home from Manchester to start work when I get home), as I didn't have enough holidays left to take the day off Very good way to do things. I used to reverse commute at Stonehenge Solstice. Normally arriving about midnight, dozing inn the car until 3.30 walking the 2 miles to henge, running back after sunrise to car, getting home just after 8am, like batman, changing into work gear and arriving about 9.30 like nothing happened. In 2007 I did a 'double header' drove down to Eden Project in Cornwall, met the hard core Peter Gaberial fans, had a 10 min conversation with PG, saw the gig, drove through the night to Stonehenge in apocalyptic rain, after the 'misty no sunrise', drove on home and to work. All without any form of 'Peruvian marching powder' as its called in the event industry. Mental.

We got to see the fire show this year and had a long chat with my favourite tee shirt seller I first met at womad years many years ago, Nick Hooper Design. I love dancing Ledge, Winspit, Warbarrow bay. I have recently discovered my great great grandfather was from that part of Purbeck.
