Bonnaroo schedule was added this week. Only a few conflicts, and a few one ends at the same time another starts at another stage. Otherwise, looking good on a whole. So, much to do between here and then. Amazing how fast time flies. www.bonnaroo.com/schedule#/timeline/2023-06-13Really wish you could all come and join me.

Booked a ticket yesterday to see Tangerine Dream at the Albert Hall in Manchester in November They are a band that would benefit from a cathedral tour, I wish I'd seen them in Coventry Cathedral, last year. They came to Southampton but the venue is so awful so I declined.

Who is going to see PG? I might put this a separate thread. I have 2 tickets to the O2 in June. We had a lunatics meet up before his last O2 gig in 2014 I think it was.

I will be seeing him in Chicago in September. I hope to reconnect with old PG forum lunatics there, but we'll see. There is a chance a few of them could go to the Milwaukee show instead.

We have day tickets for Love Supreme Jazz Festival. Popped along yesterday, it's our 2nd time at the festival, brilliant, friendly and a lovely setting.
Musical highlights - The Joy - Fabulous harmonies, acapella
Incognito - brilliant celebration of their 40-year career in Acid Jazz
Greentea Peng - wow! Certainly has her own fashion sense! π and at times, her singing style reminded me of Macy Grey. Brilliant
FKJ (aka French Kiwi Juice). Fabulous musicianship, one man electronic band, wonderful.
Little Simz - Utterly glorious, passion, deep, honest, hope, fabulous music doing exactly what music should do, hitting your emotions like a flying anvil β€οΈ

And so onto Sunday at Love Supreme, highlights were:
Snowboy and the Latin Section - fabulous early afternoon of Afro Carabean Jazz - perfect
Then I hit a phase were I just couldn't get into the music, perhaps I was tired and just wanted to chill, I don't know, but Candi Staton, Obongjayar, and Thundercat all were lost to me, which is sad and one of those experiences I think I'll regret.
Then Grace Jones! Wow!!!! A magical and theatrical experience - shear genius

Always curious how much leaving each evening kills the festival vibe, or not...?

Yes, by returning home each night, it did change the vibe, I felt like a visitor to the festival rather than part of the festival. In future, at Love Supreme, I'd camp

I was there for the Sunday too, and yes Grace Jones was absolutely amazing, at age 75 she blew the crowd away. One of the best festival performances I have ever seen.
Didn't really take to Snowboy, and the sound quality was terrible for some reason. And Candi Staton's voice has gone, I remember seeing her at Womad quite a few years back, and she was still pretty good then, so it was quite sad to see. And Emeli Sande has got old, when did that happen?, I thought she was up and coming, but I think she has been and gone.

Well here I am in Ruskin House in Croydon, with it's proud socialist roots, and current HQ of the Communist Party of Great Britain. It's the regular meeting of the Croydon Folk Club and I am looking forward to hearing Granny's Attic.
I must admit that I feel like an imposter. There are few occasions when I am the youngest person in attendance but this is one of them. And by some distance too. I guess this is grassroots folk, and glamorous it is not. Where are all the keen young folkies? Not here for sure. We are just having a communal singalong to a traditional British folk song/sea shanty, everyone knows it apart from me. This is as authentic a community as you will ever see, it's quite impressive really.
Anyway I am sure Granny's Attic will be awesome:)
Oh, and whilst I am at it, I should also mention that I went to Pub in the Park in Tunbridge Wells on Sunday. It's the first time I have ever been despite it virtually being in my back garden. All you really need to know is that there was a Porsche concession. Rock n effing roll right?! Saving graces were George Egg's concoctions from recycled junk food and Debbie Sledge, I have always had a soft spot for Sister Sledge, and they didn't disappoint.
